Man arrested after hotel worker assaulted

A suspect has been arrested after a hotel employee was assaulted in Nottingham city centre.

Police were called to Premier Inn, in London Road, after a member of staff was punched outside the premises.

A member of the public entered the hotel in an agitated state and became aggressive after being asked to leave shortly after midnight yesterday (1 August).

The assault happened moments after the suspect was evicted from the hotel.

Officers were quickly on the scene and arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of assault occasion actual bodily harm.

He was taken into custody for questioning.

Superintendent Chris Pearson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This was a completely unacceptable incident. No-one deserves to be assaulted in their place of work and it is fortunate the member of staff was not seriously hurt.

“Following the assault, a hotel guest intervened and prevented the suspect from striking further blows. I’d like to thank that person for coming to the victim’s aid.

“Violence will not be tolerated in Nottingham and I hope this arrest reassures the public that we will swiftly act whenever we receive reports of this nature.”
