Newark officers are appealing for witnesses after a business was ransacked over the weekend.
A town centre café’s till was taken, while iPhones, an iPad and a range of other items were also stolen.
An intruder smashed a glass window to gain access to the property in Stodman Street, with an untidy search then taking place.
The café’s interior was also damaged during the incident, which happened sometime between midnight and 2am on Sunday (1 December).
Staff discovered the damage when they arrived later that morning, with the police being notified soon after that.
PC Simon Pinnington, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“The owners of this business have understandably been left very upset by what happened.
“The till, electronic devices and a range of other items were all stolen, while the intruder caused considerable damage within the premises in the process.
“We are determined to get to the bottom of what happened here and to track down whoever was responsible, so that they can face justice for their actions.
“While this break-in happened in the middle of the night, we believe there’s a good chance, because of its location, that someone may have seen what happened.
“Someone may have also inadvertently caught the moments the break-in took place on CCTV, doorbell, or dash-cam footage.
“If this is you, we’d ask that you please get in touch with us and share the footage, as it may assist us with our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to leave it with the police by calling 101, quoting incident 166 of 1 December 2024, or to report it anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
