A drug dealer has been jailed after a police investigation revealed he was conspiring with his girlfriend to sell cocaine in Worksop.
Officers stopped and searched a car being driven by Courtney Witts in Canal Road after information was received that she was dealing drugs in the area.
A large amount of cash and multiple mobile phones were seized from inside the vehicle.
Evidence from the devices revealed how Witts was engaged in a drugs conspiracy with her partner James Rae, who was already serving a jail sentence at HMP Ranby.
Rae, aged 29, was jailed for a total of six years and two months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday (28 November).
Both he and Witts, of Devonshire Close, Newbold, Chesterfield, had pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine.
Witts is expected to be sentenced on 2 May 2025.
Following the stop and search, on 24 August 2021, phone call data revealed Witts was on a call with Rae when she was arrested.
Witts told Rae a police car was following her and he was heard to ask her ‘have you got rid?’.
Further examination of calls between the two revealed the pair were buying and selling Class A drugs.
When police searched Witts’ home they found designer clothes and shoes.
Police Constable Andrew Sansom, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We’re grateful to members of the public who provided us with important information about Witts’ drug dealing in this area.
“The stop and search allowed us to gather further evidence that the pair were buying and selling Class A drugs.
“We also found evidence Witts was living a lavish lifestyle, much of it presumably paid for from the sale of drugs to vulnerable people.
“These substances continue to cause immense harm in our communities and we know every time we put a dealer in the dock we are disrupting the trade.”
