A road has been closed after a serious collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 80s, was taken to hospital following the incident which happened at the junction of London Road and Hawton Lane, Balderton, around 4.50pm today (Monday 30 December).
The driver of the car has been spoken to by officers and an investigation into what happened is continuing.
The road remains closed in both directions at this time. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have recorded dashcam footage which could aid officers with their inquiries is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 485 of 30 December.
