A suspect is facing court action in the New Year as a neighbourhood policing team continues to make progress in tackling motorbike theft.
Inquiries were carried out after it was reported a motorcycle had been stolen from the driveway of an address in The Crescent, Stapleford.
Information was received the bike was spotted heading along Derby Road, Nottingham, on the night of 3 December.
Officers located and followed the bike before it came to a stop. A suspect was then arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
Jordan Blasdale, of Denver Court, Stapleford, was detained in connection with the motorbike theft which happened around midnight on Thursday 28 November.
The 21-year-old was subsequently charged with driving while disqualified, using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance and possession of cannabis.
He was bailed to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 2 January in relation to these allegations.
Blasdale was released on conditional bail following his arrest on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle while inquiries continue.
Broxtowe borough neighbourhood policing team inspector Usha Madaraa said: “Preventing and reducing motorbike theft is one of the current priority areas we are tackling.
“Our neighbourhood policing team has conducted patrols to deter further crimes and given crime prevention advice.
“Since October there has been a reduction in thefts which I am pleased about, and which shows we are making progress in addressing concerns and issues raised by local residents and businesses.
“That said, we’re not complacent and we will continue to work with residents and our local partners to tackle motorbike theft along with other crime issues.”
