Detectives investigating two street robberies in the same area of Nottingham have placed a suspect before magistrates.
The first incident took place in Glendon Drive, Sherwood, around 1pm on 27 November 2024 when a man was approached from behind by a youth as he walked along the road.
The victim was threatened into handing over his mobile phone.
He was then forced to withdraw money from a cash machine before the offender left the scene with the victim’s phone and bank card.
Officers were called to a second robbery a short distance away in Crossman Street, Sherwood, when another victim was approached and forced to turn out his pockets.
The victim was then threatened into transferring money via an online transaction around 6pm on 4 December.
Officers have trawled CCTV in the area and carried out other local inquiries as part of their investigation into the two incidents.
A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with both robberies.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday (9 December) and will next appear at the same court on 18 December.
Detective Sergeant Franco Guddemi, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Street robberies of this nature can be an unpleasant and unnerving experience for any victim.
“That is why we have teams of detectives investigating these incidents and supporting victims.
“I’m pleased a suspect has been identified for both these robberies and placed before the courts.”
