Emergency services were called to Derby Road, near to the entrance of the Queen’s Medical Centre, at 7.32pm on Tuesday 6 February.
John Withers, aged 73, who lived nearby, was involved in a collision as he crossed the busy road.
He was admitted to the adjacent hospital and died on Sunday evening (11 February).
Officers believe two vehicles were involved which have been identified and recovered. The drivers of both vehicles are assisting officers with their enquiries.
Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Road Policing and Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:
“This was a tragic incident and our thoughts are with Mr Withers’ family at this extremely difficult time.
“Specially-trained officers have been assigned to support them as they come to terms with this terrible loss.
“We are continuing to build up a complete picture of what happened and would again like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or has any dash-cam footage or information to contact us on 101, quoting incident 634 of 6 February 2024.”
