Drug dealer had product sent to his home address

A drug dealer was exposed when Border Force officers intercepted more than half a kilogram of cannabis in transit to his home address.

Levi Ketagoda-Gamage, aged 22, was arrested on 3 February 2022 when police carried out a search warrant at his home.

The cannabis, with a street value of around £3,000, had been intercepted three days earlier in Coventry after it had been flown in from Colorado in the United States.

When officers followed the drugs to Ketagoda-Gamage’s home in Langdale Road, Bakersfield, they found a large quantity of cannabis, plastic deal bags, weighing scales, various cannabis products and a mobile phone.

Further examination of the phone revealed plentiful evidence that Ketagoda-Gamage had been selling the products to others.

After initially declining to answer officers’ questions, he later pleaded guilty to possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply.

Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (22 March), Ketagoda-Gamage, of Langdale Road, was jailed for three years.

Detective Constable Ruth Towle, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Ketagoda-Gamage quite literally led us to his door when he decided to have such a large quantity of illegal drugs mailed to his home address.

“I am pleased he has now been brought to justice and hope this case serves as a warning to others about the potential consequences of this kind of offending.”
