Pair arrested during raid after drugs package intercepted

Two suspected dealers have been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to smuggle drugs into Nottingham. 

Acting on intelligence, officers executed a warrant at an address in Cartwright Way, Beeston. 

After forcing entry, Operation Reacher and neighbourhood police officers carried out a thorough search of rooms which led to them seizing bags of cannabis, cannabis edibles, packets of suspected Class A drugs, bottles containing suspected drug laced liquids, cash, phones, and scales. 

Officers also arrested two men at the address following the raid which was executed on Friday morning (8 March 2024). 

Further to intelligence that the address was linked to the illegal supply of drugs, a parcel containing 600g of cannabis was intercepted by Border Force officials at East Midlands Airport on 22 February 2024.   

The seized package - delivered from an address in Salt Lake City, USA - was addressed to one of the arrested suspects and destined for the Beeston property. 

A 43-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs and improper importation of a Class B drug. 

Inspector Mike Ebbins, District Commander of Broxtowe, said: “Tackling drug-related crime is a local priority in Broxtowe and local police teams are continuing to actively target and disrupt the illegal supply of drugs in the local area. 

“We will continue to do all we can to keep our communities safe from drug-related criminality and I hope these arrests will serve as a warning to others that we will not tolerate this sort of unlawful activity in our neighbourhoods.”
