Detectives investigating two burglaries at homes in Beeston have charged a suspect with a series of offences.
The first break-in took place at a flat in Greenfield Street on 18 March 2024 when a bag containing a wallet and a number of other items was stolen.
The victim was contacted around 9.20pm to be told his bank card had been used.
A second burglary took place at a flat in Templar Road on 23 March.
The victim returned home around 9.50pm to discover the back door to her home was open and her belongings had been rifled through.
She later found a number of items were missing and transactions had been made using her bank cards.
Officers have been investigating both break-ins by studying CCTV footage and carrying out a number of other local inquiries.
Jason Dawson, aged 41, of Thompson Close, Chilwell, has been charged with two counts of burglary and six counts of fraud by false representation in relation to the incidents.
He is also charged with theft after a bicycle was stolen outside an address in Mapperley Road on 26 December 2023.
Dawson faces further charges of theft and fraud by false representation after a television which was on hire was sold to a man via a second hand website on 3 July 2023.
Dawson appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 17 May and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 14 June 2024.
Detective Constable Cora Marks, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Burglary is a horrible and invasive crime which can shatter victims’ feelings of safety and confidence in their own homes.
“We investigate every report of a break-in at a home with the utmost seriousness as we understand the impact they can have on victims.
"I would also urge householders to please make every effort to avoid becoming a victim by thinking about their home security.
“It doesn’t take much to lock doors and windows or check someone else has if you are living a multi-occupancy property.
“Make sure that valuables, including cash, phones or electrical items, are kept out of sight to any passers-by and the keys to your property and vehicles are kept in a safe place out of sight and well away from your letterbox.”
Burglary was made a local crime priority in the Broxtowe area at the start of the year and measures introduced have included increased hot spot patrols, daily targeted arrests of offenders and crime prevention advice to victims.
