Former teacher jailed for sexual offences against schoolgirl

A former teacher has been jailed for sexual offences against a pupil at the school where he worked.

Craig Hill, aged 46, who taught at Hall Park Academy in Eastwood, admitted two counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity while in a position of trust as a teacher.

He committed the offences against the schoolgirl in the 2010s.

An investigation was launched by Nottinghamshire Police after the victim came forward in 2022 and reported the abuse she was subjected to.

Hill, of Mornington Crescent, Nuthall, was locked up for 32 months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Friday 1 November.

Hill was made subject of a  sexual harm prevention order and must also sign the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely.

He was also handed a ten year restraining order preventing further contact with this victim.

Detective Constable Shelley Christian, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

"Hill’s sentencing will never make up for what happened but I hope it gives the victim some comfort to know that he has been locked up for a significant amount of time.

“Hill was in a position of trust at the time of these offences, and he abused this position to target this victim.

“I’d like to pay tribute to the courage she has shown throughout our investigation. This strength has meant that Hill has been held accountable for his traumatic offending and he cannot harm anyone else.

"I also hope this sentence gives encouragement to any other survivors of abuse to come forward. We will treat them with sensitivity and respect, we will investigate and do everything in our power to seek justice for them - even if the abuse happened a long time ago.”
