Officers were called to Whitegate Vale, Clifton, Nottingham, around 6pm on Tuesday (12 November) after reports a window had been damaged at a home.
Inquiries revealed a suspected firearm was discharged and a brick was also thrown through the window.
No one was injured during the incident and officers have been carrying out a thorough investigation to find out what happened.
A 28-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug after cannabis was discovered during searches.
A 27-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession of a Class B drug.
Detective Inspector Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Officers have been working hard on the investigation so I’m pleased to share this update.
“People in the community can expect to see a continued police presence in the area while inquiries continue so if anyone has any concerns, please speak to an officer.
“Although these arrests are a significant development we are still asking for the public’s help.
