A teenage boy with a love of the police had his dreams come true thanks to a surprise visit from a local police community support officer.
Seventeen-year-old Ryan Sissons, who is living with the effects of a brain injury, has always wanted to be a policeman - and he loves the police so much that he even decided to dress up as a police officer for his Halloween trick-or-treating!
Nottinghamshire Police PCSO Chris Jones found out about Ryan’s obsession with the police after seeing a Facebook post published by his mum, Sarah.
Chris said: “As a community police officer, I knew from reading the post that I had the tools, time, and commitment to engage with Ryan to fulfil his lifetime ambition and I contacted his mum. We spoke about Ryan and his obsession and the best way to surprise him at home.
“Within two days of reading Ryan's story on Facebook, I knocked on his door in Long Eaton, Derbyshire. He answered dressed in his police uniform, that he is obsessed with, with a police van outside with the lights flashing.
“It was a real pleasure being able to surprise Ryan who was over the moon. He was able to sit in the front of the car, followed by a tour which included getting locked in the rear cage, as authorised and witnessed by his parents!
Sarah said: “Ryan has always loved anything to do with the police and would like to be a police officer when he is older although sadly that probably won't happen.
“This surprise visit just absolutely made his day – he hasn’t shut up about it since! It was a really nice thing for Chris to do.”
