Detectives investigating a series of street robberies and frauds have placed a suspect before magistrates.
A teenager was approached by a man in Shakespeare Street, Nottingham, around 11.20am on Monday (11 November).
The victim reported being threatened by the offender and told he had a knife.
He was forced to send money via a bank transfer.
Later the same day, around 4.45pm, police were called to Ilkeston Road, Nottingham, when a second victim was approached as he walked home.
He was also ordered to send money via an online transfer and shown a knife by an offender.
Dylan Spencer, aged 26, of Beechdale Road, Nottingham, has been charged with both robberies.
He has also been charged in relation to an earlier incident when two people were approached as they walked along Bluecoat Street, Nottingham, on 7 October 2024.
A car stopped and one of the victims handed over cash after being threatened.
Spencer has also been charged following three incidents of fraud by false representation after fake gift vouchers were handed out to people in return for cash.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (14 November) charged with three counts of robbery, one of attempted robbery, three counts of fraud by false representation and possession of a knife in a public place.
Spencer was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 12 December 2024.
Detective Sergeant Rob Palethorpe, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Any victim of a street robbery can suffer an emotional impact which goes far beyond financial loss.
“I hope these victims welcome the police response.
“The force has teams of detectives working hard to bring robbers to justice while supporting those unfortunate enough to fall victim.”
These charges were made during Sceptre – the national knife crime week of action – after knifepoint robberies were allocated as the national theme for the latest campaign.
Nottinghamshire Police spoke to three people targeted by weapon-carrying robbers as part of the force’s Sceptre coverage earlier this week.
