A former officer has been found to have been dishonest with a number of agencies including his car insurance provider and the DVLA.
This involved withholding information that could affect the officer being able to drive a vehicle, which he did so between 8 February 2023 and 23 May 2024. This related solely to the use of a personal vehicle.
At a misconduct hearing at force headquarters on 11 October 2024, it was concluded that the former officer, who worked in the control room, would have been dismissed if he had still been working for the force.
Deputy Chief Constable Steve Cooper, lead for the force’s Professional Standards, says:
“Being honest and having integrity in all that we do is essential for working in policing, and providing false information or intending to mislead is never acceptable.”
The misconduct hearing was held in private due to the medical history of the officer involved being referred to throughout the hearing.
