Detectives investigating a robbery at a beauty salon have arrested a suspect after he was found in a loft.
Police were called to Ayelashes, in Victoria Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, at 6.05pm on 1 October 2024 after two masked men entered the premises and demanded cash.
A member of staff and customer were inside the salon at the time.
When the staff member said there was no money inside, one of the offenders snatched a handbag from the customer and they fled.
The victim’s bank card was later used at a shop in Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Officers have been analysing CCTV footage from close to the scene and carrying out other inquiries in the area.
On Tuesday (8 October) officers searched a home in Sutton-in-Ashfield and discovered a man behind some insulation in the loft area.
A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
The suspect has been further detained in connection with an incident in Barnes Crescent, Sutton-in-Ashfield, on 28 August 2024, when a man was seen in the street with a crossbow.
He is also under suspicion of an assault in which a catapult was fired at a man in Outram Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, on 13 September 2024.
The suspect was further arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and assault in connection with the two incidents.
Detective Sergeant Matt Dumbrell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Thankfully nobody was hurt during the robbery but it will have been an upsetting ordeal for both the staff member and customer.
“We never underestimate the psychological impact this sort of offence can have on victims.
“Officers have been working hard to find out who was responsible and this arrest is an important step.
“However, I’d urge anyone with any information or relevant footage, and who has not yet spoken to an officer, to please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 498 of 1 October 2024, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
