A woman has died after a road traffic incident in Nottingham city centre.
Emergency services were called to Lower Parliament Street at 6.05am today (Tuesday) after a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a woman in her thirties, was treated at the scene but died a short time later.
Her family will now be supported by specially trained officers.
The road has been closed between Milton Street and Glasshouse Street for investigation work and will remain closed for some time.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
Chief Inspector Dean Gallacher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a tragic incident and we are currently working to understand exactly what happened.
“The road will remain closed for some time as investigation work is carried out and we advise drivers to avoid the area until further notice.”
Additional witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting incident 72 of 22 October 2024.
