Arrest after man impersonated police officer

A suspect has been arrested after reports a man impersonated a police officer in order to steal from a vulnerable victim.

Neighbourhood police have been investigating the incident at the victim’s home in West Bridgford around 6.20am on 22 August 2024.

A man turned up at the address, pretended to be an officer and gained access to the property.

The victim reported a wallet containing cash had been stolen from him.

Officers have been carrying out local inquiries as part of their investigation into the incident and have now arrested a suspect.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of impersonating a police officer.

Inspector Tim Cuthbert, neighbourhood policing inspector for Rushcliffe, said:

“The victim in this incident is extremely vulnerable so we have been supporting him while working hard on the investigation.

“I’d like to commend the officers involved. Their knowledge of the neighbourhood they are policing has been vital during inquiries into this incident.

“We’d encourage people to always carry out the necessary checks whenever someone attends their home unannounced.

“This arrest is an important step in our investigation but we still want to hear from anyone who has any information.”
