Officers were called to Southchurch Drive, Clifton, Nottingham, around 2.20pm on Saturday (14 September) following reports a man was being chased by a second man in possession of a weapon.
It was discovered the victim had sustained a minor injury to his finger which did not require hospital treatment.
Officers arrested a suspect a short time later at a nearby home.
A BB gun has now also been recovered by officers.
Lee McCarthy, aged 49, of Varney Road, Nottingham, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday (16 September) charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 14 October 2024.
Detective Sergeant Hannah Frame, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We take all reports of this nature extremely seriously and officers were rapidly deployed to the area.
“I hope anyone who witnessed the incident is comforted by our robust response which has now seen this suspect placed before the courts.
“If you have any information, or dashcam, doorbell, mobile phone or CCTV footage which could help the investigation, we still want to hear from you.”
