Man due to appear in court after series of burglaries

A man is due to appear in court after precious items were stolen during a series of home break-ins.

Detectives have been investigating three burglaries on properties in Sutton Bonington, Rushcliffe, between 11.45am and 3pm on 24 August 2024.

Two break-ins took place in Willow Poole Lane and the third was in nearby Orchard Close.

Each occurred when the occupants were out or absent and among the items taken were an engagement ring and war medals.

Frederick Locke, aged 57, of Des Starbuck Drive, Coalville, Leicestershire, has been charged with three counts of burglary.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (2 September).

Detective Sergeant Ben Skellern, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Any burglary is an upsetting experience for the victim which can leave them feeling unsafe in their own home.

“I hope the village community is reassured by our robust response which has seen this suspect placed before magistrates.

“If anyone has any information about the whereabouts of the items stolen during these incidents, I’d urge them to call police on 101, quoting incident number 321 of 24 August 2024, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
