Patrols increased as murder investigation continues

Police are supporting family members and the wider community after launching a murder investigation.

Specially trained officers have been deployed to help the family of a 40-year-old man who died at a property in Clifton on Tuesday (17 September).

Neighbourhood teams have also increased high-visibility patrols in the area after emergency services were called to the incident in Eddleston Drive around 8.30pm.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later despite the best efforts of officers and paramedics.

A 34-year-old man remains in custody after being arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

A team of detectives is now working to understand the circumstances that led to a man losing his life.

Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“As our investigation continues into this incident our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends.

“Family liaison officers are helping them in every way they can at this incredibly difficult time, as well as keeping them informed about the progress of our investigation.

“We understand the incident will have caused concern in the community. However, I would like to reassure people in the neighbourhood that we believe this was an isolated incident, involving people known to each other and with no wider risk to the public.

“We have a dedicated team of detectives working on this case and I would like to thank the public for assisting us with our investigation.

“We still want to hear from anyone with any information, or any relevant CCTV, doorbell, dashcam or mobile phone footage, who has not yet spoken to an officer.”

Inspector Steve Dalby, neighbourhood policing inspector for Clifton, said:

“This is a tragic incident and my officers’ priority is to support the community while investigations continue.

“We have increased patrols in the area which I hope has provided some reassurance.

"Please don’t hesitate to speak to any of our officers as they are there to help."
