A man has been placed before the courts and suspected stolen items returned to their owners following a home break-in.
The victim reported she had seen an intruder gain entry to her property, in Cromwell Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham, from doorbell camera footage.
The footage then showed a man leaving with a bag.
Police were called at 12.04am on Sunday (29 September) and arrested a suspect nearby a short time later.
Officers were also able to return a number of suspected stolen items, including laptop computers and jewellery, to their owners.
Mark Nelson, aged 53, of no fixed abode, has been charged with burglary and appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (30 September).
He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 28 October.
Following further inquiries, a 24-year-old man was also arrested on Sunday in relation to the same incident and remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“It is always a good result when we can quickly return suspected stolen items to their rightful owners like this.
“Response officers should be commended for their rapid attendance and quick thinking at the scene.
"Following a thorough investigation a suspect has now been placed before the courts.
“Detectives are still investigating the incident and anyone with any information, or relevant CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, should get in touch.”
Anyone who can assist should call police on 101, quoting incident number 2 of 29 September 2024, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
