Police searched a house and found a suspected BB gun after a road rage incident was reported.
A motorist rang 999 after another male driver pointed what looked like a handgun at him.
The caller told officers it happened after he sounded his car horn at the driver for swerving in front of him along London Road, Nottingham, at approximately 8.10am on Tuesday (15 April).
Both vehicles carried on for a short distance with angry words exchanged between the two drivers, before one of them produced what appeared to be a gun and saying, ‘do you want to carry on talking?’
This prompted the 999 caller to apologise in a bid to diffuse the situation and the other man drove away from the scene.
Following inquiries, a suspect vehicle was traced to an address in Broxtowe Estate.
Officers searched the address and discovered a suspected BB gun matching the description of the weapon produced during the road rage incident.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He was questioned and later bailed pending further investigation work.
Detective Sergeant Paul Crofts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This must have been a frightening experience for the victim who thankfully was unscathed following the incident.
“These kind of road rage incidents are thankfully rare and will always be met with a robust police response.
“While we have arrested a suspect our inquiries into the incident are very much ongoing.
“To assist us in our investigation we are urging anyone who saw what happened or anyone who may have dash-cam footage to please get in touch with us.”
Anyone who can assist the investigation is asked to call 101 quoting incident 92 of 15 April 2025.
