Detectives investigating a sexual assault in Nottingham City Centre have asked for additional witnesses to come forward.
Police were called shortly after 4.45am today (Sunday) after a young woman was assaulted by a man in York Street near to the Victoria Centre.
The victim is now being supported by specially trained officers and an investigation is ongoing.
Detectives are asking for any witnesses to what happened to come forward.
Detective Constable Laura Manley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a distressing incident for the victim and we are working hard to track down the person responsible.
“We are currently reviewing local CCTV footage and closely examining the scene, but would also like to hear from any additional witnesses who saw or heard anything that may help our investigation.
“Even the smallest piece of evidence may prove vital in this investigation.”
A cordon has been placed at the scene to allow for further investigation to take place.
