A 20-year-old man has been charged with assault following an incident near to the entrance of Nottingham Castle.
The victim was walking along Lenton Road, near to the entrance to Nottingham Castle, shortly after 1am on Thursday 13 February when she was approached by a man and assaulted.
Matthew Ward, aged 20, of Wilfred Drive, Sheffield, has been arrested and charged with assault (ABH) and intentional suffocation.
He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on Monday, February 17.
Chief Inspector Mike Ebbins said:
“We hope this offers the public some reassurance that we have now charged a man in connection with this incident.
“The victim is being supported by our specially-trained officers.”
