Wanted suspect arrested after police pursuit

A wanted suspect was arrested after trying and failing to speed away from highly trained police drivers.

Officers on routine patrol spotted a car linked to the man in Nottingham at about 8.20pm on Wednesday.

After following the car at a distance for a short while along the A453 towards Ratcliffe on Soar, the officers instructed it to pull over.

The driver of the vehicle made off – travelling at high speed and overtaking several vehicles in a reckless manner.

The car was eventually brought to a stop a short time later and a 24-year-old man was arrested by a dog officer on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, and drug driving.

The suspect is wanted for offences in another force area and remains in custody.

Inspector Steven King, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“People who try to flee from our officers in this way are not only putting themselves and other road users at serious risk of harm – they are also making their own situation worse.

“I am pleased we were able to bring this pursuit to a swift and safe conclusion.”
