A burglar who was caught climbing a ladder at a shopping arcade has been jailed following a series of raids on city businesses.
Police spotted Adrian Perry creeping around inside the West End Arcade at 1.45am on Tuesday (28 January) after a business owner was awoken by glass being smashed.
Officers contained the building before Perry attempted to flee by climbing up a ladder.
He was then handcuffed by officers as he tried to run out into the street.
It was discovered he had smashed his way into one of the businesses at the arcade and broken into the till.

Detectives charged Perry with burglary and were also able to link him to two other break-ins in the city centre during the early hours of 21 January.
He used a brick to smash his way into Derby Road pub the Mist Rolling Inn before stealing bottles of spirits.
Perry was also captured on CCTV breaking into a homeware shop in Derby Road the same morning.
Perry, aged 56, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (29 January).
He also admitted threatening behaviour following an incident at a supermarket in Carlton Street, also on 21 January.
Perry had confronted a member of staff who was opening up at the store and threatened to attack them.
He was jailed for a total of one year and six weeks.
Detective Inspector Chris Berryman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“A rapid response to the initial call from the public allowed officers to catch this burglar red-handed.
“He tried to escape by climbing onto the roof but the police teams who attended had successfully cut off his potential escape routes.
“Perry was already being sought for the two earlier break-ins and detectives worked hard to build a watertight case against him for this series of incidents.
“As these offences occurred in the same city neighbourhood we understand the concern this will have caused.
“I hope people in the community are reassured by our robust investigations which have now seen Perry put behind bars.”
