A suspect was arrested after a washbag packed full of cannabis was chucked out of a moving car.
Operational support officers had opted to trail the vehicle seconds earlier after spotting it in Valley Road, Sherwood.
Believing it could be involved in criminality, police signalled for the driver to pull the car over, around 12.40am on Friday (3 January).
As this was taking place, officers saw a small bag being chucked out of the window, which was later retrieved from the pavement.
The bag was subsequently searched and found to contain dozens of cannabis deals.
Two mobile phones and hundreds of pounds worth of cash were also seized from the vehicle.
Based on these findings, a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs.
Inspector Christian Chell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
”Whilst patrolling the city, our operational support officers identified a vehicle that raised their suspicions so they attempted to stop the car.
“As this was happening, efforts appeared to be made to try and evade the police, while a package was discarded from the vehicle.
“It was retrieved soon afterwards and found to be packed full of cannabis deals.
“This was a great example of the proactive duties our officers perform to bring suspected criminals such as drug dealers to justice.”
