A suspected dealer was arrested after police witnessed bags of drugs being chucked out of a moving car.
Armed Policing officers had been travelling through the Forest Fields area when they sighted a vehicle that grabbed their attention.
Believing the car in question could have links to drugs supply, the team made the decision to stop it, around 10pm on Tuesday (21 January).
Before this could happen, however, the vehicle suddenly pulled over in Burford Road, with an object being thrown from the car and a man getting out and making a run for it.
He didn’t get very far though before the operational support officers caught up with him and put him in handcuffs.
Police arrested the 28-year-old man on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
They then retraced their steps and found the item that had been discarded nearby, which turned out to be bags containing more than a dozen deals worth of cannabis.
Following this discovery, the detained man was additionally arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class B drugs.
Inspector Chris Chell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Any time we can take drugs off the streets, it's undoubtedly a good thing, so this proved to be a good spot by our officers.
“After deciding to trail a vehicle they suspected could have links to drugs supply, the team’s initial instincts were proven to be correct when deals of cannabis were seen to be flung out the windows.
“In addition to seizing the Class B drugs, our officers were able to chase down and detain a suspect, who was also linked to the theft of a vehicle, so the officers involved should be pleased with their contributions.”
