Police launch appeal in bid to catch flasher

Police have launched an appeal after a number of indecent exposures in Nottingham over recent weeks.

Officers are asking members of the public for help following the incidents in the Arboretum area of the city.

The suspect, described as being in his 40s to 50s with blonde hair, has exposed himself to women walking in North Sherwood Street, Addison Street and Waverley Street.

The victims also described him being tall and having a skinny build and scruffy look.

Sgt Karl Browne, of the City Central neighbourhood policing team, said:

“While he doesn’t make any attempt to approach the victims, it does cause them some alarm.

“We are actively making inquiries to find this man and are urging anyone who sees him to ring us immediately on 999.

“Everyone has a right to feel safe when going about their daily business. We will not tolerate this behaviour, and would urge anyone who sees him to contact us immediately.

“Likewise, if you have any information that could assist us in identifying the offender please call us on 101 quoting 25*112104.

“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The appeal comes as the same neighbourhood team put another man before the courts over separate flashing incidents.

Michale Perlikowski, aged 32, of Millers Court, Radford, was arrested after exposing himself in public on four occasions in Nottingham in November last year.

He went on to plead guilty to four counts of exposure and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on 21 February.

Perlikowski received a six-month community order that requires him to attend a rehabilitation programme. He was also made subject of a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order designed to restrict his behaviour.

PC Jordan Hinds, who led the investigation, said:

“Indecent exposure is a serious offence and we will always thoroughly investigate reports with a view to taking action against offenders.

“Perlikowski’s behaviour was utterly inexcusable and I am pleased he has now been dealt with by the courts.”
