Our aim

The aim of work experience is to enable individuals to gain an insight into everyday life within the police family, providing three-day long placements based at Sherwood Lodge - our Force Headquarters - in Arnold.

Each placement is held within a classroom based environment and can accommodate up to 20 students, we run two of these placements a year.

The work experience will see various departments from across the force giving interactive talks and sessions to students. These departments include the Dog Section, Response, Firearms and the Citizens in Policing Department.

This placement will provide individuals with essential life skills required to support them moving forward to achieve their end goal.

Hopefully some young people will then enter the policing family in some capacity by becoming a cadet, volunteer, special constable or regular officer.

Our process

  • The website shall open up twice a year in order to fill the Work Experience placements
  • You will be able to apply for the placements via the website using the application form
  • Ensure you provide all your contact details including name, address, email and telephone
  • If a placement can be secured, you will then be sent out all the relevant documentation for you to complete.
