The apprenticeship scheme is open to individuals who are positive and passionate about a career in public service. Our programmes run for 18 - 24 months during which time you will gain a vast amount of work experience within a policing environment.
Our apprenticeships equip you with new skills, knowledge and experience to support our police force. You’ll become a valued member in one of our many departments and gain a Level 3, Level 4 or Level 6 standard of qualification at the end of your apprenticeship with Level 5 classed as development.
Each apprentice will work a normal working week of 37 hours and a minimum of 20% of your working hours will be spent on training to help you work towards your qualification.
As a living wage employer, we offer a competitive rate of pay starting from £21,000. We currently have apprentices in several departments across our organisation including People Services, Intelligence, Offender Management, Finance, Information Services and Facilities.
To view our current apprenticeship opportunities, please visit our vacancy page. If you don’t see the apprenticeship that you’re looking for, please complete our expression of interest form.

The minimum entry requirements to apply for a Level 6 apprenticeship is five GCSEs graded at 4 – 9 (previously A*- C) and any A-level qualifications (also known as Level 3 qualifications).
Anyone who works for the police is in a privileged position with regards to accessing information and could be considered potentially vulnerable to corruption. Applicants should therefore not be under pressure from un-discharged debts or liabilities and should be able to manage loans and debts sensibly.
Applicants who have existing County Court Judgments (CCJs) or who have been registered bankrupt, and their bankruptcy debts have not been discharged will not be considered.
Applicants who have been convicted or cautioned, depending on the nature and circumstances of the offence, may still be eligible for appointment. However, Nottinghamshire Police will not recruit people where the integrity of the applicant or the police service could be questioned.
The following will result in an automatic decline of your application:
If you have cautions or convictions, unless there are exceptionally compelling circumstances surrounding the original incident
Any offence either as an adult or juvenile that resulted in a prison sentence where a vulnerable person was targeted, if the offence was motivated by hate or discrimination, or is domestic abuse related
If you are a registered sex offender or are subject to a registration requirement in respect of any other conviction
The public expect that the police service only employs people with the highest levels of integrity and that those that work for Nottinghamshire Police act and always behave professionally.
As part of your application, you will be required to provide personal details about yourself, your family members and co-residents in order for vetting checks to be conducted.
Your application may not be accepted if there is a conflict of interest in your professional life or another volunteering role.
See further information regarding the vetting process.
