Drug dealer jailed after cocaine and cannabis found in his flat

A drug dealer has been jailed after his stash of cocaine and cannabis was spotted inside a flat by police.

Response officers made the discovery after being called to an address in Rainworth about something else.

While speaking to homeowner Ryan Hunt about the unrelated incident, something caught the eye of officers.

That’s after they spotted a container out on display in the kitchen that was clearly packed full of quantities of cannabis.

Suspecting there could be more drugs inside the Southwell Road East flat, police spread out and searched the rest of the address.

This was confirmed soon after, when more than 20 individual deals of cocaine – packed in bags and ready to sell – were found in Hunt’s bedroom.

A jar of cannabis was also found in there too, along with two small tubs containing cocaine, and quantities of cash.

Having been caught red-handed with the drugs in the early hours of 20 April this year, Hunt was promptly arrested inside his home.

The 34-year-old would go on to plead guilty the following month to charges of possessing with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs.

He also admitted to a separate charge of possessing criminal property.

Hunt, of Southwell Road East, Rainworth, returned to Nottingham Crown Court to be sentenced on Monday (10 November).

He was jailed for four-and-a-half years.

PC Shelley Chester, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“The officers who attended Ryan Hunt’s home showed fantastic awareness of their surroundings in making this drugs spot.

“Despite originally being called to the address for something unrelated, they quickly identified stashes of cocaine and cannabis that Hunt was holding inside the flat.

“It should be abundantly clear to everyone by now, but it’s important people realise that the sale of drugs is a very serious offence and won’t be tolerated by this police force.

“We’re really pleased to see he’s now been sentenced for his crimes and hope the lengthy spell he’ll now spend behind bars sends a message to others thinking of getting involved in the supply of drugs.”
