A suspect was tracked down and arrested within minutes of a call reporting the attempted theft of a motorcycle.
Police were called to Mather Street, Newark, at 3.48am on Sunday 5 April by a concerned local resident.
The motorcycle was found on its side and a search was immediately carried out in the local area.
With support from a council CCTV operator, a suspect was tracked to the Millennium Bridge.
By 4.07am, a 16-year-old boy was chased down by officers and arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal and attempted theft from a motor vehicle.
He was later released on police bail.
Sergeant Morgan Fitzpatrick, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was an excellent result for local response officers, who were nearby when the call came in.
“Thanks to their very quick response, and the support of a council CCTV operator, they were soon able to identify and arrest a suspect.”
