An off-duty police officer interrupted her trip to a Mansfield coffee shop to detain a suspected shoplifter.
The response officer was at Costa Coffee, in Southwell Road West, when she challenged the suspect shortly before midday on Thursday 12 February.
Additional officers arrived on the scene shortly afterwards and arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of theft.
Multiple jars of coffee and snacks were recovered along with several additional items believed to have been taken from a nearby service station
Chief Inspector Paul Hennessy, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This officer may have been off duty but she quickly switched into work mode at a moment’s notice.
“Thanks to her bravery and professionalism – and the help of members of the public – this suspect was detained, and a local retailer was protected from harm.
“She should be proud of her actions.”
