Drug dealer jailed after knife attack

A drug dealer has been jailed after stabbing a man during a fight about a debt.

Police were called to Cornwall Road, Daybrook, Nottingham, around 1.45am on 3 April 2025 following reports of a street altercation.

It was discovered one man, aged in his 20s, had been stabbed in the chest.

He was taken to hospital and required emergency surgery after suffering a collapsed lung.

Detectives began an investigation and Marshall Williams-Handley was identified as the attacker.

During arrest attempts the following day, officers seized clothing he had worn during the fight when they searched a property in Daybrook.

They also found wraps of Class A drugs and a dealer list in a bag at the address.

Williams-Handley, aged 21, of Taylor Way, Nottingham, was later arrested and charged.

He denied the attack but was found guilty of wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place following a trial in December last year.

He pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

At Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday (11 June) Williams-Handley was handed an extended jail sentence of ten-and-a-half years.

Detective Constable Michaela Williams, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“The men involved were known to each other and they had a fall out about drugs.

“The incident escalated when Williams-Handley produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest.

“He required emergency surgery and we know his injuries, as well as the psychological scars of what happened, continue to impact his life.

“Williams-Handley was dealing drugs on the street and, due to his lifestyle, carried a weapon which he was clearly prepared to use.

“As we so often see, the presence of a knife escalated the incident into something far more serious for all involved.

“The offender is fortunate his victim was not even more seriously hurt.

“We know a number of people living in the area witnessed the incident and there was wider concern in the community.

“I hope our robust investigation and the outcome in court provides some comfort and demonstrates how seriously we treat violent incidents like this.”
