Proactive patrols leads to drug dealing arrest

Proactive police work to crack down on drug dealing in Nottingham has led to the arrest of a man.

As city priority tasking team officers were out conducting patrols, they had cause to enter a property in Midland Avenue, Lenton, on 27 May.

Whilst inside officers discovered multiple sim cards, digital scales disguised as a cigarette packet, mobile phones, and deal bags, stashed in the bedroom at around 8.30pm.

A small amount of cannabis and packets of prescription tablets were also found by officers, alongside other drugs paraphernalia.

Home-made business cards advertising phone numbers and snapchat accounts were also seized.

A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs and possession of cannabis.

He has been bailed with conditions while investigations continue.

PC Stephanie Sharpe, of Nottinghamshire Police's city priority tasking team, said: "Drug dealing fuels antisocial behaviour, harms communities and exploits some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

"It is closely linked to wider criminality, including serious offences connected to organised crime groups, which is why we will always work proactively to tackle this criminality.

"We are clear that drug dealing is not harmless, and we will not tolerate it in our communities through robust action."
