Response officers seized bags of cocaine and a wad of cash after pulling a car over.
Police were out on patrol in Radford when a motorist’s standard of driving grabbed their attention.
Having initially spotted it swerving across Duke Street, the officers checked the car’s details on their computer.
Seeing it was showing as having no insurance, police then switched on their blue lights and stopped the vehicle.
Shortly after approaching the car – around 12.35am on Wednesday (18 March) – officers spotted around £1,200 in cash inside.
Suspecting it could be the proceeds of crime, they removed the cash from the car’s middle console and saw a plastic bag next to it.
After investigating further, the bag was found to contain several deal bags full of cocaine.
This prompted police to arrest the vehicle’s occupants – two 18-year-old men – on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class A drugs.
One of the suspects was additionally arrested on suspicion of driving without valid insurance.
Sergeant Rishi Thobhani, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This drugs discovery may not have happened, had it not been for the awareness shown by the officers on patrol that morning.
“It’s to their credit – and really showcased their policing instincts – that they made this seizure, having initially pulled a car over for driving offences.
“Suspecting the occupants could be involved in criminality, they investigated further and duly found wraps of cocaine and large quantities of cash.
“As I say, the officers involved in making this double arrest did a great job during this incident and should be commended for their actions.”
