Applying for a role within Nottinghamshire Police is an exciting step towards a meaningful career in public service. To help you with your application, we’ve listed some information about us as well as some guidance you might find useful along the way.
If you have any further questions, please email our recruitment team.
Our application process is designed to see if you reflect our ethical and moral standards and objectives. Below, you’ll find a synopsis of our values which underpin everything we stand for as an organisation. A good candidate will be able to relate to and reflect the below in their examples given for either written applications or verbal interviews.

Our Duty is to fight crime, protect vulnerable people and ensure our communities feel safe and listened to
Our Commitment is to serve with pride, compassion and integrity
Our Priorities are:
To earn the trust and confidence of our communities – public confidence is key and if we are going to be an outstanding police service our communities need to trust us to do the right thing for the right reasons, be transparent and accountable in all we do and work with our communities to find resolutions to the issues that affect them
To improve victim outcomes – this isn't just about criminal outcomes, we need to ensure that victims are at the heart of all we do, that we respond effectively, conduct investigations to the highest standards and find an appropriate resolution to their calls for service
To develop a workforce fit for the future – we need to invest in you and our leaders to ensure you have the skills and equipment to perform your role, that we treat each other fairly and have our resources in the right place but also, that we all work to the highest standards, and we are all invested in maintaining them
Everyone who works and volunteers for the force is united by a commitment to our shared PROUD values, as detailed below. These values will feature in recruitment processes, so please familiarise yourself with them and refer to them during local processes, such as interviews and presentations.
Being professional is all about having pride in what we do and inspiring confidence by delivering clear standards of service.
Having respect for all is about valuing people as individuals and treating people as they want to be treated.
One team is all about working together, rather than in silos, and valuing the contributions others can make.
Demonstrating utmost integrity, trust and honesty is about being accountable, and doing what we say we’ll do.
Doing it differently is about being prepared to challenge the status quo and never being afraid to try something new.
Remember to declare everything, as you are always better to over declare than under. The only people who will view your vetting form are yourself and our vetting team who treat your information with the highest level of confidentiality
Do not forget to add motoring offences including those that have led to educational courses
Be as honest as you can. As much as our vetting process is about checking criminality and backgrounds, it is also an honesty and integrity check. There are things which wouldn’t lead to a failed vetting application if they are declared by yourself however, failure to declare will lead us to decline the application based on honesty and integrity
Make sure you provide maiden names, dates of birth and addresses for all the people listed on your vetting forms
If you can’t remember or provide specific details, then include a rationale as to why
Check your emails and your junk/spam folder regularly as communications from our vetting team may end up in there
If you have any further questions, please email our recruitment team.
