Nottinghamshire is made up of a large rural area with villages and towns, as well as a bustling city centre with a big student population. Home to over a million people, our county boasts two major universities, a strong sporting hub, a large agricultural industry and a culture steeped in history. Nottinghamshire Police is committed to community-focused policing by working with local residents and organisations to build a safer, more inclusive place to live.
We’re a forward-thinking organisation which has led the way in many areas of policing. We were the first police service to launch the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship programme, the first police service outside of the Met to have a dedicated knife crime team, and the first police service to meet the Operation Uplift targets.
And it doesn’t stop there, as a progressive police service we are always looking at ways to improve our practices and the service we deliver to the communities we protect.
To earn the trust and confidence of our communities - public confidence is key if we are going to offer an outstanding police service. Our communities need to trust us to do the right thing for the right reasons, we need to be transparent and accountable in all we do, and we need to work with our communities to find resolutions to the issues that affect them.
To improve victim outcomes - this isn't just about criminal outcomes. We need to ensure that victims are at the heart of all we do by responding effectively, conducting investigations to the highest standard and finding appropriate resolutions to their calls for service.
To develop a workforce fit for the future - we need to invest in our employees to ensure they have the skills and equipment required to perform their role effectively. We need to treat each other fairly and have our resources in the right place but also ensure that we all work to the highest standards and are all invested in maintaining them.
You will train at our purpose-built £18.5m facility before heading out onto the frontline.
Wellbeing is always a priority for us, and as such we offer access to advice services, various support networks, and assistance programmes. We champion individuality and encourage a culture of openness and belonging with the understanding that together, we can achieve greater success.
There’s something truly special about working for Nottinghamshire Police and you’ll enjoy benefits that support you in both your career and outside of work whilst volunteering as a special constable.
