Missing Persons

We understand how distressing it can be when a loved one goes missing.
Nottinghamshire Police have a dedicated missing persons’ team who work tirelessly to locate and safeguard those who have been reporting missing. People go missing for a variety of reasons and the Police are here to help in all cases of missing people. Our primary concern is the safety of the missing person and the welfare of those that are affected by the incident.

What happens next?

An officer will contact you and obtain the full circumstances of your report. They will check the home address and last place where the missing person was sighted.

Evidence Preservation

What you can do:

• The officer will ask you questions, to try to build a picture of the missing person and their habits. Please provide as much information as you can, including locations they like to go or have been found in the past
• Gather details of friends, family or associates they might have contact with
• Prepare any details of any social media accounts the missing has, including any passwords if known
• Prepare any details of any mobile phone the person has access to
• The officer will ask for a recent clear image of the missing person and will discuss the possibility of a media release to assist in locating them

Early Intervention

Nottinghamshire Police have adopted the Herbert Protocol which is an early intervention and risk reduction scheme to help locate vulnerable people who suffer with Dementia, in a timely manner.
