Restrictions
Abnormal loads are not allowed to travel in the Nottinghamshire area:
- Monday to Friday 7am to 9am and 4pm to 6pm
Escorts
You must arrange your own escort in Nottinghamshire:
-
on the M1 motorway (between junctions 24 and 27) or on the A1, A46 or A610 if your vehicle is over 4.6m wide, 30m long or 130t in weight

on all other roads if your vehicle is over 4.12m wide, 30m long or 100t in weight
You can use your own escort vehicles or hire someone else to escort you.
Police escorts
We will provide a police escort when we think we need to because of the size of the load or other unusual circumstances. This usually means loads that need a VR1 form (PDF, 48KB) or a Vehicle Special Order.
If you need a police escort you must give us 14 days’ notice and we will charge for this service.
