City South Neighbourhood Policing
Community Update – June 2026
Policing is, at its heart, about public service. It is about people — listening to concerns, understanding what matters most to our communities, and working tirelessly to deliver safer neighbourhoods.
I am incredibly proud to lead teams across City South who are committed not only to reducing crime, but to building trust and confidence in policing. We recognise that trust is earned through our actions: by listening, by being visible, and by delivering meaningful outcomes for victims.
Listening to the public is central to everything we do. Your concerns, your experiences, and your expectations shape our priorities. By working together, we are creating safer neighbourhoods and stronger relationships built on trust, openness, and action.
Delivering on What Matters to You
Our priorities for April to June 2026 reflect the issues that communities have told us matter most:
•Acquisitive Crime – We are intensifying our focus on burglary, robbery, vehicle crime and retail crime, identifying repeat and serial offenders and targeting hotspots to achieve the best possible outcomes for victims. ]
•Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) – We are actively addressing concerns around speeding, dangerous driving, and behaviour that impacts community safety and wellbeing.
•Drugs – Through proactive patrols and enforcement activity, we are continuing to disrupt drug-related activity and reduce harm across our communities.
This is about focusing on the issues that affect people most — and taking decisive action.
A Positive Approach to Neighbourhood Policing
Our work is guided by three core strengths:
Putting Communities First: Engagement
We are increasing our presence and strengthening our connection with all communities, ensuring everyone feels heard, respected, and supported. This includes reaching those who may not always feel confident in approaching police.
Solving Problems, Not Just Responding
By focusing on long-term solutions, by working with our partners, we are preventing repeat crime and reducing demand — ultimately delivering better outcomes for victims and a more effective service
Targeting What Matters Most
We are directing our efforts where they will make the greatest difference — focusing on harm, vulnerability, and the issues communities tell us are most important.
Performance Highlights: Progress and Focus
While demand in some areas has increased, this gives us clearer insight and opportunity to respond with precision:
•We are seeing positive stability and reductions in areas such as Sneinton & Dales.
•In areas where crime has risen, strong plans are already in place to address this through targeted enforcement and prevention.
This data ensures we stay focused, proactive, and responsive.
Improving Outcomes for Victims
Our commitment to victims is clear: we want to deliver better results, better communication, and better support.
•We are intensifying efforts to tackle burglary and robbery, ensuring offenders are identified and brought to justice.
•Encouragingly, vehicle crime has reduced overall, demonstrating the impact of proactive policing.
•Targeted work continues on retail crime, working closely with businesses to reduce offending and protect staff.
Taking Action on Anti-Social Behaviour
We understand the impact ASB has on daily life, and we are taking a proactive and partnership-led approach to tackle it.
By listening to residents and acting on concerns, we are improving safety and helping communities feel secure and supported.
Protecting Communities and Reducing Harm
Our teams are focused on:
•Identifying and managing those causing the most harm
•Supporting vulnerable victims and preventing repeat harm
•Working closely with partners to deliver lasting solutions
This targeted and preventative approach ensures we are making a real, lasting difference.
Working Together: Your Voice Matters
We are continuing to expand opportunities for engagement, including:
•Community surgeries and local events
•Drop-in sessions for diverse communities, including asylum seekers and refugees
These conversations help shape our work and strengthen the relationship between police and the public.
Looking Forward with Confidence
There is a strong sense of momentum across City South. Our teams are focused, motivated, and committed to delivering for the public.
My commitment is simple:
•To listen carefully to what you tell us
•To act decisively on your concerns
•To improve outcomes for victims
•To build trust through our actions every day
Together, we are making City South a safer place — and building a police service our communities can feel proud of
