Neighbourhood policing team
I am the Chief Inspector with responsibility for community policing across Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood.
Given the significant size and geography of the area, I am also proud to lead the force’s work tackling rural and wildlife crime across Nottinghamshire.
Having spent time growing up in Worksop, and living within the area, I am passionate about ensuring our neighbourhood officers are making a tangible, and positive, difference to the lives of our communities across Bassetlaw, Newark and Sherwood.
I am committed to ensuring we listen to you, act upon your concerns and articulate the results we are achieving. I have served for 28 years, across disciplines including major crime investigation and public order policing, and am able to bring a range of skills and experience to help guide our dedicated staff to improve the quality of life for residents, business owners and visitors of this wonderful part of the county.
I am the District Commander for Newark & Sherwood, with responsibility for Neighbourhood Policing across the district. I joined Nottinghamshire Police in 2005, and in that time have held a number of roles. I was a response officer in the city for 5 years, before moving to city CID and qualifying as a detective. I was promoted and undertook the role of city centre response sergeant, before again being promoted in 2019 to a Demand Management Inspector for the city. In this role I had responsibility for response policing and critical incident management in the city, supervising 6 teams with over 60 officers covering 24hr response policing.
In 2021 I was posted to my current position as District Commander for Newark & Sherwood.
I have had the benefit of wide ranging experience throughout my career, and have undertaken additional skills and responsibilities including Public Order policing, and qualifying as an assessor for newly promoted officers to ensure they meet the required standards of competence.
Policing can undoubtedly be challenging, but I remain committed to ensuring my teams have high standards and work effectively to serve the public and keep people safe.

Anti-Social Behaviour

Off-Road / On-Road Bike Nuisance
Problem management plan remains in place under Operation JERICHO.
Monthly days of action have been undertaken with support from the Off-Road Bike Team (ORBT), targeting identified hotspot locations.
The local Neighbourhood Policing Team remains aware of the identified off-road bike hotspots, particularly within the Clipstone and Garibaldi areas. Reports continue to be received, and officers have also experienced a number of fail-to-stop incidents involving off-road bikes and Sur-Rons.
Officers will continue to review intelligence submissions and conduct enforcement visits where offenders have been identified.

General ASB
The team will continue to carry out proactive ASB patrols across the area, with a focus on locations experiencing increased levels of anti-social behaviour. Dedicated patrols will continue on Fridays and Saturdays.
Community Engagement
•Mini Police sessions delivered at Mount School.
•18 July: ASB Day of Action conducted within the town centre. One arrest was made for Possession with Intent to Supply (PWITS), and a wanted individual was also circulated as a result of the activity.
•Further days of action are planned across the summer months to include both high vis and plain clothes patrols.
•Town centre will continue to benefit from additional funding for hot spot patrols.
•Over the summer holiday period we will be deploying dedicated ASB patrols at peak times.

Priority:
Serious Acquisitive Crime
Action taken:
The team continues to proactively target offenders responsible for burglary, theft and other acquisitive crime offences through a combination of plain clothes deployments, intelligence-led activity and specialist operations.
On 4 July, a successful plain clothes operation resulted in:
•One arrest for burglary
•One arrest for eight shop theft offences
This activity received positive media coverage through Nottinghamshire Police social media channels, the Newark Advertiser and Radio Newark, helping to reassure the public and demonstrate ongoing enforcement activity.
Operation ANGELINE – 24 June 2026
Rural patrols were conducted in hotspot locations identified through recent reports of fuel thefts from farms. The operation focused on prevention, disruption and intelligence gathering, with a number of vehicles identified through the use of positive CCTV opportunities. Enquiries remain ongoing.
Operation MIMICAL ANPR Day – 8 July 2026
An ANPR operation was conducted targeting vehicles linked to serious acquisitive crime and drug-related offending. The activity provided reassurance within affected areas and contributed to intelligence gathering and disruption activity.
The team will continue to utilise intelligence-led patrols, plain clothes operations, ANPR deployments and targeted enforcement opportunities to identify and disrupt offenders responsible for acquisitive crime across the district. -

Drugs
Action taken:
A proactive approach to tackling drug-related activity continues across the area.
Following the recent ASB Day of Action in the town centre on 18 July, one male was arrested for Possession with Intent to Supply (PWITS) after being found in possession of a quantity of white powder.
Significant work continues to be undertaken by the Neighbourhood Policing Team to develop intelligence and disrupt those involved in the supply of controlled drugs. During June and July, the NPT Tasking Team conducted six drug seizures as part of ongoing enforcement activity.
•Officers will continue to gather, develop and submit intelligence relating to drug activity.
•Where the evidential threshold is met, further warrant applications will be sought to target offenders and disrupt criminality.
The team remains committed to pursuing those involved in the supply of illegal drugs and reducing the harm they cause within local communities.
Operation Cognition
The team are planning future Operation Cognition activity, with dates currently being arranged to support further proactive enforcement and intelligence-led operations.
