Our police staff work side by side with those on the frontline across many areas of the organisation. It's with the help of skilled professionals working behind the scenes that we can make Nottinghamshire a safer place to live, visit and work in.

Administration plays a key role across our organisation. From business support officers who support our Chief Officer team, to department-based administrators who keep our policing functions running smoothly, these roles are critical to ensure we operate efficiently and effectively.
Change at a local, regional and national level is driven by our business change and transformation team who bring in and implement new ideas within our constabulary. They support various departments to help maintain consistency, expand the departments capacity to handle multiple projects efficiently and ensure resilience and responsiveness to new challenges.
There are several teams and roles within Nottinghamshire Police who help with investigations involving communications data including our Digital Forensics Unit, Digital Multimedia Evidence Unit, Intelligence Unit consisting of ANPR, Internet, and covert authority’s bureau, RF Propagation Survey Team, and our Financial Investigation Unit.
Contact Management is front and centre to supporting our communities and victims of crime. It is made up of a huge variety of roles including emergency call handlers, dispatchers, switchboard, fraud triage officers, tactical firearms commanders, front counter staff, real-time intelligence officers, the Contact Resolution Incident Management (CRIM) team and business systems admin support. All these areas come together in times of crisis to deal with emergency and non-emergency incidents.
This department manages all internal and external communications. They receive and action all media requests to help keep the public informed, manage our social media channels and website updates, oversee key campaigns and activity throughout the year, and engage with our employees through various internal channels.
Our Corporate Development team is responsible for performance management, strategic planning, governance, audit and inspection, corporate risk, business continuity, demand analysis and research and insight functions.
This team plays a vital role in safeguarding the information we hold and share, and their work helps to protect the public and maintain trust by ensuring that our data is handled lawfully, fairly and transparently in line with national legislation and policing standards.
This team carry out condition surveys and pre-planned building maintenance works, whilst also providing advice and support to each department relating to property management and building works.
This team ensures that all aspects of our buildings and offices are well maintained to create a safe and cost-effective environment for staff, officers and visitors.
This team provides expert advice and support to the organisation, senior leaders, and both frontline and support functions. Their role is to ensure that our money and resources are used effectively, and that we deliver the best value from the funds available for policing. Key responsibilities include setting and monitoring budgets, overseeing contracts, and ensuring timely payment to our staff and suppliers.
Our fleet team are responsible for purchasing and maintaining our extensive fleet of vehicles including police cars, vans, motorbikes, off-road bikes, cycles and boats by ensuring everything is working to the optimum standard at all times.
Our IS department is one of our biggest and has many smaller teams within it that hold particular skills and accountability for the organisation. From fixing colleagues' laptops and introducing new systems, to managing the servers that hold the organisation’s data, it's an important area that keeps everything running smoothly operationally.
The Intelligence department consists of several expert teams with specific proactive and reactive functions. Using specialist analytical techniques, as well as delivering operational and strategic level insight, they help with bringing criminals to justice and achieving force objectives.
This team supports the organisation in engaging with our communities by attracting and retaining the best talent. It consists of several areas that include HR services, career conversations, lifecycle, flexible working applications, sickness, pay progression, leadership training, promotion processes, recruitment and much more.
The Prevention Hub is a partnership between multiple departments within the force to provide clear direction, governance, and leadership in preventing crime and disorder. It is responsible for developing and delivering prevention strategies throughout the city and county to fight crime and keep the public safe.
The principle of policing by consent relies on the trust and confidence that the public has in the police service. The Professional Standards Directorate plays an important role in the maintenance of that trust and confidence, which can be undermined by a failure to handle complaints, undertake misconduct and corruption investigations and instigate prosecution and/or disciplinary proceedings where there is a case to answer.
