City Central Strategic Priorities: October 2023 to December 2023
Issued 30 October 2023
ASB (All forms of ASB, including begging, street drinking and street drug use)
Operation Brandberg continues in the area to target persistent beggars who are causing anti-social behaviour within our area. Criminal Behaviour Orders have been applied for, which, if granted, will enable us to request conditions on individuals to keep them away from the areas they offend. We have planned days of action coming up where we will target those who are causing problems within our community.
Extra patrols around the areas where the majority of our student population live have continued to ensure that we are responding any anti-social behaviour issues robustly.
Serious Violence (Knife crime, violence against the person and violence against women and girls (VAWAG)
Officers will continue to carry out further Operation Grip patrols over the winter months in areas that have been identified as hot spots, to ensure our communities feel safe. Extra CCTV and lighting has been installed in and around the Forest Recreation Ground.
Further extra patrols have been conducted around the areas where our students live, to provide visibility and reassurance at night time.
Our op Reacher team continue to target our most violent offenders including those that are involved in knife crime.
A new university team is currently being set up, this consists of 2 police constables and 2 police community support officers who will work with both Universities.
Residential Burglaries
Burglaries have started rising since the return of our students back into Nottingham, this is likely to continue as the darker nights start. We have been offering crime prevention advice to the students within the universities and have also increased our patrols in areas where burglaries are occurring.
There have been numerous arrests over the last month by our Operation Reacher team, these suspects have then been dealt with by our dedicated burglary team.
