How priorities are chosen
The priorities for the Mansfield Neighbourhood Policing Team are reviewed every three months at a Multi‑Agency Problem Solving (MAPS) meeting. These meetings bring together police and partner agencies to review police crime and incident data, intelligence, partner information and feedback from the public, including responses to the Notts Alert “What Matters” survey, to identify the issues causing the most concern and harm within the community.
The priorities selected do not detract from our wider policing responsibilities locally or across Nottinghamshire.
Why this priority has been chosen
Vehicle‑related anti‑social behaviour remains the most frequently reported type of ASB in Mansfield. This includes issues such as off‑road bikes, e‑scooters, speeding vehicles, car meets, and vehicle nuisance around schools, the night‑time economy and public open spaces.
Ongoing reports from residents, continued damage to land and wildlife, and the impact on public confidence mean this continues to be a significant concern. Retaining this as a priority allows officers dedicated time to focus on hotspot areas and persistent offenders.

August Update:
We continue to use a combination of enforcement, education and partnership working to tackle vehicle-related ASB, with a particular focus on off-road bikes, e-scooters and nuisance driving. Officers continue to seize vehicles where legislation permits and proactively target hotspot locations across the district.

August Update:
Operation Nebraska remains the dedicated Problem Management Plan (PMP) addressing off-road bikes and vehicle-related ASB across Mansfield.
The specialist ORB Team has been deployed throughout the summer and has also supported Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service during incidents linked to fire setting in the Oak Tree and Ladybrook/Desert areas.
A dedicated e-bike operation is being planned for early September to address concerns around illegal and anti-social use of electrically assisted bikes.
Educational work is being planned with the Folk House Youth Centre and local youth services to engage with young people and prevent offending.
Officers continue to use a range of methods to identify offenders, including reviewing footage submitted by the public and the use of facial recognition technology where appropriate.

Priority 2: Retail Crime

How priorities are chosen
Retail crime has been identified through regular MAPS meetings using police crime data, intelligence, feedback from retailers and partner agencies, and public concerns. These meetings allow us to focus resources on issues that cause the greatest harm to businesses and the wider community.
Why this priority has been chosen
Shop theft remains the highest recorded crime type across Mansfield. All of the top ten repeat offenders for overall crime in the area are shoplifters, and six of the top ten offence locations are retail premises.
Although there has been a reduction in recorded shop theft, there has been a significant increase in robberies of business properties, where offenders threaten violence to steal goods. Retail crime is also strongly linked to wider ASB, drug use, organised crime and exploitation, making this an ongoing priority.

Retailers and members of the public are encouraged to report incidents promptly via 101 or our website.
Businesses are also encouraged to continue working with local officers and share information to help target repeat offenders.

Summary of Action Taken:
We continue to work alongside retailers and partner agencies to disrupt prolific offenders, secure Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) and improve outcomes for victims of retail crime. Dedicated operations continue to target hotspot areas and repeat offenders.

August Update:
There are currently eight Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) in place against prolific offenders responsible for significant retail crime across Mansfield.
Shop theft offences have reduced by 6.41% compared with the previous reporting period.
The positive outcome rate for shop theft stands at 35.7%, while robbery of business property offences have a positive outcome rate of 42.6%.
Further Operation Amberstag deployments are scheduled for 14 September, 9 October and 6 November, targeting repeat offenders and supporting local retailers.
Although robbery of business property has increased by 60.83%, this is largely attributable to changes in Home Office crime recording practices.

Priority 3: Drug Use and Dealing

Drug‑related harm is identified as a priority through analysis of police intelligence, crime reports, partner information, public feedback and wider public health concerns, discussed at MAPS meetings with partner agencies.
Why this priority has been chosen
Drug use and dealing continue to drive crime, ASB and community harm across Mansfield, particularly in the town centre and vulnerable residential areas. Reports from residents and partners, along with ongoing safeguarding and public health concerns, mean continued focus is required to disrupt supply, protect vulnerable individuals and address associated ASB.

Residents are encouraged to report concerns about drug dealing via 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
Information provided by the public plays a vital role in developing intelligence for warrants and enforcement activity.

Update:

Officers continue to pursue intelligence-led opportunities to disrupt drug supply, execute warrants, safeguard vulnerable people and work with partners to tackle associated criminality. This includes addressing cuckooing, organised criminality and repeat drug-related offending.

August Update:
Intelligence development work continues around a number of addresses linked to suspected drug supply activity, with warrant opportunities under active consideration.
A proactive vehicle stop led to the recovery of a significant quantity of drugs and a positive enforcement outcome.
Officers continue to tackle issues surrounding the supply and use of Mamba within the town centre despite ongoing challenges around sentencing outcomes.
Work continues with partners to manage organised crime groups and prevent Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE).
Operation Conclusion remains focused on identifying and safeguarding victims of cuckooing, with closure orders being sought where appropriate.
Operation Legacy continues in partnership with Mansfield District Council, Active Derbyshire Communities, Change Grow Live, Probation, Housing and other agencies to tackle persistent drug use and associated offending in the town centre.
